January 2024 Goal Update

Here is a quick update on where things stand with my 2024 writing goals:

🏠Earthquake House

V6 is coming along nicely! I am forging ahead swiftly with the final updates I want to make, and I'm spending a bit of extra time on the two opening chapters to make sure they're as compelling as possible for when it comes time to try and bag an agent.

👧🏿🐉The Others

V2 is in progress. I'm pretty excited about some of the enhancements I am making in this version of the story, and I a feel much better about it now that I am working on it every single week. I still have a long way to go before I reach a v3 (or v4) state that I can offer to my fans to beta read, but I remain optimistic!

📖Picture Books

The Agent Hunt has begun! I have received some excellent feedback on both my manuscripts AND on the query letter than I am formulating for one of the books, and I hope to actually begin querying soon.

🏆Contests and Anthologies

I didn't place in the final round of the NYC Midnight 500-word Fiction Challenge, but I received some very good feedback on my story. I recently submitted my Round 1 entry to the NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge, and I feel pretty good about it. I still have the Cheshire Novel Prize and Wolf Grove Media's Book of Choices Anthology in mind, but I have some time before those need to be submitted.

📕Short Stories

Apart from continuing to collect all my short stories in categories, I have not made any concrete progress here. I am thinking of just compiling the ones I have and sending them as-is for feedback, but there are so many improvements I could make first that I am firmly on the fence about this.

🧜‍♀️Awake!

This book is going to have to wait a little while before I have time to come back to the rewrite, but I keep it on my list and in my mind because I am excited about its future.

🦉Owl Academy

Same as above. I'm excited about the idea and committed to writing it, but I need to find the time to actually do so.
