Short Story Spotlight: DO NOT PRESS!

In a world where every move you make and everything you say could be recorded, the only privacy you have left might be inside your head. This is the idea that came to mind when I wrote DO NOT PRESS!, a story inspired by this writing prompt:

Write a story where a character has to decide whether to press the button or not.

Maggie stopped speaking year's ago. As far as those around her are concerned, she is a loyal, if silent follower of the New Government (same as the Old Government, just with different hairstyles). Eventually, as an old woman, she is finally allowed to view The Button, something only the most dedicated citizens are allowed to do.

Should she press it? What will happen if she does?
